Prabowo Claims 1.4 Million Jobs Created
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - President Prabowo Subianto has stated that many jobs have been created during his nearly two years in office. He claimed that 1.4 million jobs were created in the first six months of 2026 alone.
“And we have created 1.4 million jobs,” Prabowo said during his speech on the Financial Note and 2027 State Budget Draft at the MPR/DPR Building, Friday (14/8/2026).
For the record, one of Prabowo’s campaign promises was to create 19 million jobs over his five-year term. This job creation includes absorption in various strategic sectors, including approximately 5 million opportunities from green jobs (green economy).
In his speech, Prabowo also stated that investment in Indonesia continues to grow. In the first half of 2026, investment realisation reached Rp 1,010 trillion, while last year’s investment realisation reached Rp 1,931 trillion, creating 2.7 million jobs.
“Because of our hard work, because of the people’s trust in the government, investment continues to grow amidst global uncertainty. Throughout 2025, investment realisation reached Rp 1,931 trillion,” he explained.
He also touched on the world facing geopolitical conflicts and open wars in Europe and the Middle East, which have disrupted supply chains. Despite these geopolitical upheavals, Prabowo stated that Indonesia can stand on its own and does not need to depend on supplies from abroad.
