Prabowo: Civil Servants Must Be Present When the People Face Hardship

President Prabowo Subianto reminded 1,204 young civil servants from the Institute of Home Affairs Governance (IPDN) Class XXXIII, who were inaugurated on Wednesday (29/7), to be present and assist the people in times of difficulty. The remark was made as Prabowo inaugurated the civil servants at the IPDN Parade Ground in Jatinangor, Sumedang, West Java. He reminded them that this inauguration marks the beginning of facing the nation’s challenges and urged them to be present amidst the people’s hardships. “My children, you have all chosen to be ready to sacrifice body and soul for the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. Your lives are full of demands from the nation and state,” Prabowo said. “You must become civil servants who are present when the people are facing difficulties. You must be a beacon of hope, a pillar of support and leadership for society,” he added. Prabowo stated that being a civil servant is not merely a position. He said they must provide significant benefits to society by serving and protecting the people. “You become civil servants not just to hold a rank or position. The honour of a state apparatus is not measured by their position, but by how much benefit is felt by the community. You are servants of the people; you must serve, protect, and nurture the community,” Prabowo said. Prabowo also expressed appreciation for the civil servants who had previously assisted directly in handling the disaster in Aceh. He cited this as an example of direct presence within the community. “You are the cohort that has been directly involved for a month in helping to handle the disaster in Aceh. Before you were even inaugurated, you were already called upon to work helping the people in their time of difficulty,” Prabowo stated.
