Prabowo Calls Saudi Crown Prince to Discuss Middle East Conflict
President Prabowo Subianto telephoned Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, known as MBS, on Wednesday, 11 March 2026. The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced via social media platform X that Prabowo and MBS discussed military escalation occurring in the Western Asia region.
“His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, received a telephone call today from President Prabowo Subianto of the Republic of Indonesia,” the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on its @KSAmofaEN account.
The Saudi government revealed that both leaders reviewed developments concerning the intensifying conflict in the Western Asia region. Prabowo and MBS also discussed the serious implications arising from this conflict for regional and global peace. According to the Saudi government, Prabowo called for the cessation of warfare.
Escalation of conflict in the Western Asia region occurred following military strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran on 28 February 2026.
An air strike on Tehran, the capital of Iran, killed several leaders of the Islamic Republic, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran subsequently launched retaliatory strikes against Israeli territory and neighbouring countries hosting American military bases.
“The President of Indonesia stressed the need for an immediate halt to military operations in the region, warning that such actions will damage its security and stability,” said the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
President Prabowo had previously stated that Indonesia does not wish to interfere in the internal affairs of other nations. According to Prabowo, he will continue to uphold this position whilst in office.
During a speech at the commemoration of Nuzulul Quran at the State Palace in Jakarta, Prabowo discussed peace and the desire to maintain friendly relations with all nations in the world. Under his leadership, Prabowo said, the Indonesian people are committed to nurturing friendship and good relations with all nations, countries, and world powers. “We do not wish to interfere in the internal affairs of any country,” Prabowo said on the evening of Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
