Prabowo Calls Higher Education Minister and Maritime Minister to Discuss Fishermen's Village Programme
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto summoned Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto and Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono for a meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday afternoon, discussing among other things the Red and White Fishermen’s Village programme.
The two ministers arrived one by one at the Presidential Palace starting from 1.30pm Western Indonesia Time. Both claimed not to know the agenda of the meeting with President Prabowo that afternoon.
“It might be about the giant sea wall, but I’ll see later. I’ll let you know,” said Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto in response to reporters’ questions before entering the meeting.
He continued that as Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, he would maximise the roles of higher education institutions in supporting the government’s priority programmes.
Meanwhile, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono also did not know the meeting agenda. However, he mentioned “fishermen’s village” when met by reporters before entering the meeting.
Deputy Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Didit Herdiawan Ashaf also arrived at the Presidential Palace on Monday afternoon for the meeting with President Prabowo.
Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, in a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday (15/4), emphasised that the selection is conducted openly, transparently, and accountably without any fees.
The open selection is for D3, D4, and S1 graduates from all majors with a maximum age of 35 years and a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.75.
Those who pass will be placed as employees of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) under PT Agrinas Jaladri Nusantara with a fixed-term employment contract (PKWT) for two years.
“There are no special channels, no endorsements, no fees. All processes are only through the official channel phtc.panselnas.go.id. If any party promises passing with compensation, that is a scam,” said Zulhas.
He also emphasised that workforce placement will prioritise local communities.
“If there are two candidates with the same score, the one from the nearest area will be prioritised,” he said.
