Prabowo Calls for Unity, Urges Public to Abandon Culture of Envy

President Prabowo Subianto has called on the public to strengthen the spirit of unity and mutual cooperation and to abandon the culture of slander, envy, and mutual suspicion during the commemoration of the 79th National Cooperative Day.

“Let us unite, let us work together, let us cooperate. Do not follow the culture of slander, the culture of envy, the culture of suspicion,” said President Prabowo while delivering his speech at the peak of the 79th National Cooperative Day event at Indonesia Arena, Senayan, Jakarta, Sunday.

Prabowo stated that the Indonesian people need to re-emphasise national values that uphold attitudes of mutual forgiveness, mutual understanding, mutual affection, and mutual assistance.

According to him, no success can be achieved through strife because all Indonesian people are one family despite having different backgrounds, ethnicities, and political choices.

“There is no success with strife. Why should we quarrel? We are one family,” he said.

He stressed that the spirit of unity and cooperation is an important capital to realise the nation’s revival and improve the people’s welfare.

“The strong help the weak, the weak cooperate well. God willing, we will rise,” said Prabowo.

In addition to the commemoration on 12 July, the Ministry of Cooperatives has prepared a series of follow-up activities, including the groundbreaking for the renovation of the historic building where the First Cooperative Congress was held in Tasikmalaya, West Java.

The building holds historical value as the location of the First Cooperative Congress on 12 July 1947, which later became the date designated as National Cooperative Day.
