Prabowo Calls for Peace at ASEAN Summit, Including Thailand-Cambodia Negotiations

The meeting took place at the Shangri-La Mactan in Cebu, Philippines, on Friday (8/5/2026).

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that during the session, President Prabowo, alongside ASEAN leaders, reinforced their collective commitment to maintaining stability, peace, and economic growth in Southeast Asia amid global uncertainties.

“In a warm and spirited atmosphere of togetherness, President Prabowo and the ASEAN leaders discussed various global challenges that directly impact the region, while strengthening their commitment to preserving stability, peace, and economic growth in Southeast Asia,” said Teddy.

On that occasion, Prabowo also invited all ASEAN countries to continue prioritising dialogue and peaceful resolutions in addressing various regional issues. Prabowo assessed that constructive communication is the key to maintaining regional harmony.

Furthermore, Prabowo emphasised the importance of promoting peaceful negotiation processes in several regional issues, including the situation between Thailand and Cambodia, as well as developments in Myanmar. According to Prabowo, regional stability and peace must be continuously maintained through a dialogue and cooperation approach.

“President Prabowo emphasised the importance of the spirit of brotherhood and constructive communication, including promoting peaceful negotiations between Thailand and Cambodia, as well as the situation in Myanmar, to maintain stability and harmony in Southeast Asia,” said Teddy.

Teddy noted that Prabowo’s presence at the 48th ASEAN Summit reaffirms Indonesia’s active commitment to strengthening ASEAN unity and solidarity. Indonesia also continues to push for ASEAN to remain an anchor of peace, stability, and global growth amid increasingly complex global challenges.
