Prabowo Calls for National Self-Reliance and Unity in Development Push
President Prabowo Subianto affirmed that Indonesia does not want to be a complacent nation and is determined to rise with its own strength in order to pursue development targets and improve the people’s welfare as quickly as possible. He made the remarks while leading a simultaneous grand harvest with the TNI at 43 locations across Indonesia from Abdulrachman Saleh Air Force Base in Malang, East Java, on Friday (17 July).
“We do not want to become a nation that is complacent. We will prove to the world that the Indonesian nation is rising with our own strength,” said Prabowo, as monitored via the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube broadcast.
The President said the government is aware that the people have endured hardships for too long, hardships unworthy of a great and wealthy nation such as Indonesia. For this reason, Prabowo is determined to do his utmost to achieve the highest goals for the people and to prove to the world that Indonesia is rising through its own strength.
The President stressed that Indonesia fundamentally wishes to befriend all countries. However, he acknowledged that Indonesia must also remain solid and united to safeguard and manage its wealth so that the benefits can be felt by the people themselves.
Prabowo emphasised that he would not tolerate those who have been entrusted and paid by the people, yet implement policies that harm the public, including committing corruption.
“We are now aware that we must be solid, we must be united, all elements. Especially those chosen by the people, especially those paid by the people, especially those in government, in the bureaucracy, in the state-owned enterprises,” said Prabowo.
“We will not tolerate those who have been trusted by the people, paid by the people, but carry out policies that harm the people,” he added.
On that occasion, the President also commended the hard work of the ministers, agency heads, the TNI, and the National Police in pursuing the government’s various targets.
Prabowo noted that many senior state officials have suffered exhaustion to the point of requiring medical treatment due to the high intensity of their work. Furthermore, the Head of State stated that the integrated grand harvest held simultaneously at 43 locations demonstrates that food security is not merely the affair of the Ministry of Agriculture, but has become a national movement involving the entire strength of the nation.
The President congratulated the organisers of the grand harvest and expressed appreciation for the spirit of unity, collaboration, and mutual cooperation (gotong royong) from all components of the nation. “I greatly appreciate the spirit of unity, collaboration, and gotong royong from all components of the nation,” said Prabowo.
The President also touched upon the maize grand harvest held with the National Police on 16 May 2026. This grand harvest covered various commodities, such as sugarcane, soybeans, and rice.
According to him, the involvement of the TNI and National Police in these activities shows that the two institutions serve not only as guardians of national defence and security, but are also an inseparable part of the people.
“The TNI and the National Police are the children of the people. The TNI and the National Police must always stand with the people, in the midst of the people. The people’s difficulties are the difficulties of the TNI and the National Police. As long as there are people living in hardship, it is the obligation of all components to unite, shoulder to shoulder, and take great, concrete steps to overcome the people’s difficulties,” he affirmed.
