Prabowo Calls for Accelerated Ratification of Indonesia-Eurasia FTA
President Prabowo Subianto has stated that Indonesia has ratified the Indonesia-Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement (I-EAEU FTA) and is encouraging EAEU member states that have not yet processed it to do so immediately.
In his speech at the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok, Russia, on Thursday (3/9), Prabowo expressed his commitment to implementing the I-EEMA FTA, which was signed on 21 December 2025 between Indonesia and EAEU member states, namely Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and the Eurasian Economic Commission.
“Indonesia has completed the parliamentary approval regarding the FTA, and in July, I signed the presidential regulation concerning the ratification. Allow me to state our intention firmly: Indonesia wants this agreement to take effect and be utilised as soon as possible after the exchange of notifications is completed,” said Prabowo.
“With all due respect, I call upon every EAEU member state to complete its internal procedures so that we can benefit from this agreement as soon as possible,” Prabowo added.
He emphasised that the FTA serves as a trade architecture that will open five markets for Indonesian producers and provide Eurasian parties access to more than 290 million Indonesian consumers.
Specifically, an Indonesian delegation is present at the 11th EEF to agree on pilot projects, cooperation with buyers, secure logistics, and finalise the necessary steps to utilise this free trade arrangement.
President Prabowo Subianto also encouraged the strengthening of investment cooperation between Indonesia and Russia through Danantara and the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).
Prabowo stated that Indonesia’s newly established Danantara, with managed assets of approximately US$1 trillion, could serve as a bridge for the capital markets of both nations. “Danantara can act as a bridge where the Russian and Indonesian capital markets and strategic objectives can meet,” said Prabowo Subianto.
Minister of Trade Budi Santoso has also requested the House of Representatives (DPR) to accelerate the ratification of four international trade agreements, including the I-EAEU FTA and ACFTA 3.0, to bolster the national economy.
