Prabowo Calls Erdogan for Eid al-Fitr Greetings

President Prabowo Subianto has extended Eid al-Fitr greetings to several leaders of Islamic countries for the 1447 Hijriah holiday. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that Prabowo has contacted four heads of state in recent days.

They are the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, the Hashemite King of Jordan, King Abdullah II, and the Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman.

“President Prabowo conducted the greetings via telephone connection,” said Teddy in a written statement on Sunday, 22 March 2026.

Teddy added that Prabowo will continue communications with several other heads of state. “Several other heads of state will also be contacted in the near future, awaiting confirmation from each country,” he said. According to Teddy, this moment of greeting is not only an Eid al-Fitr tradition but also strengthens friendly relations with other countries.

During Eid, Prabowo carried out visits to several regions in Indonesia. On Friday, 20 March 2026, Prabowo celebrated the takbiran night in Medan, North Sumatra.

Then on Saturday morning, 21 March 2026, the President performed Eid al-Fitr prayers for 1447 Hijriah in Aceh Tamiang, Aceh. In the afternoon, Prabowo held a gelar griya or open house at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta.

On that day, the Palace was opened to the public as part of the halalbihalal activities. Prabowo received several agency heads and ministers from the Merah Putih Cabinet at the open house event. Two former presidents, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Joko Widodo, were seen visiting Prabowo at the Palace for greetings.
