Prabowo Calls Dutch PM to Discuss Economic Partnership and Strait of Hormuz

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto held a telephone conversation with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten on Thursday (11/6), discussing international cooperation, the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the European Union and Indonesia, and the situation in the Strait of Hormuz. The call was disclosed via the Instagram account of the Dutch Ambassador to Indonesia, Marc Gerritsen.

During the conversation, the two leaders emphasised the importance of international cooperation to maintain security and prosperity in the region and beyond. They also addressed progress on the EU-Indonesia CEPA and developments in the Strait of Hormuz.

Amid a turbulent global situation, Indonesia and the Netherlands continue to work together to strengthen bilateral relations. The Netherlands and Indonesia share close cultural and historical ties and cooperate in various fields, including trade, water management, and sustainable agriculture. The Dutch government noted that both countries are like-minded partners in a rapidly changing world.

President Prabowo previously visited the Netherlands in September, where he was officially received by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima at Huis ten Bosch Palace in The Hague. During that visit, they discussed strengthening bilateral relations across various strategic areas. Both Prabowo and King Willem-Alexander share a military background, which added a personal rapport to the meeting. The encounter reflected a shared commitment to deepening ties and expanding future cooperation opportunities.
