Prabowo Calls Bahlil to Discuss Results of Lobby for Oil Supply from Russia
President Prabowo Subianto called Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia to the State Palace on Thursday (16/4/2026). The meeting concerned the results of the working visit to Russia and France, particularly regarding energy provision. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that in Russia, President Prabowo met with Russian President Vladimir Putin to enhance long-term energy cooperation. “Then, the President specifically tasked the Minister of ESDM to meet with President Putin’s special envoy and also the Russian Energy Minister,” said Teddy. Therefore, in this meeting, the President will discuss the results that have been discussed between Minister of ESDM Bahlil Lahadalia and President Putin’s special envoy in Russia. “Then he held a meeting with President Putin’s special envoy and Minister, and the results he just reported to the President. Yes, for the details, the Minister of ESDM will explain,” said Teddy. On the same occasion, Bahlil explained that the directive from President Prabowo is to follow up on the agreement from the meeting of the two heads of state, particularly related to long-term cooperation in the energy sector. “Alhamdulillah, yesterday following the President’s directive, I met with the ESDM Minister and the special envoy from President Putin, and the news is alhamdulillah quite encouraging that we will receive crude (crude oil) supplies from Russia, and also the Russian side is ready to build several important infrastructures in order to increase our national energy reserves and resilience,” said Bahlil.
