Prabowo Calls Andrie Yunus Terror Attack Barbaric, LBH Jakarta: Do Not Make It Mere Rhetoric

The Jakarta Legal Aid Institute (LBH) has urged President Prabowo Subianto to substantiate his statements regarding the thorough investigation of the acid attack case against Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, Andrie Yunus. LBH Jakarta Director, Fadhil Alfathan, assessed that the label of terrorism and barbaric action issued by the President must be followed by concrete steps, not merely political rhetoric. “We view this statement as mere rhetoric if not accompanied by real actions,” Fadhil stated in his comments in Jakarta on Wednesday (25/3/2026). Fadhil said that President Prabowo should not only strongly condemn and express public outrage. As the head of government and the highest military authority, President Prabowo has full power to order the uncovering of this case to its roots. “Through his authority, the President can issue orders as the head of government and the highest authority over the military to immediately uncover the field perpetrators to the intellectual actors and form a joint fact-finding team so that this incident can be revealed independently as soon as possible,” he said. President Prabowo Subianto emphasised that the acid attack case against activist Andrie Yunus is a serious criminal act classified as terrorism. He asked law enforcement agencies to investigate the case to the masterminds behind it. “This is terrorism, right? A barbaric action, we must pursue it, we must investigate it, we must investigate it,” Prabowo said during a discussion with journalists and observers, quoted from a shared video, on Thursday (19/3/2026).
