Prabowo: Cabinet meeting evaluates performance ahead of government's second year
“By the latest count, we have resolved 108 problems in just over a year of our government. This is no small achievement.”
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto opened a Plenary Cabinet Session at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday, attended by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, all ministers of the Red and White Cabinet, the President’s Special Envoys, and the heads of high state institutions.
In his address, President Prabowo said the cabinet session was deliberately held mid-year to welcome the 17 August celebrations and as the government approaches its two-year mark.
According to him, an evaluation is necessary to see how many programmes have been achieved and what needs to be improved in order to accelerate policies that are still pending.
President Prabowo said that during nearly two years in office the government has faced many major challenges, particularly amid a turbulent global situation.
Nevertheless, he urged the entire Red and White Cabinet not to be daunted by the nation’s problems and to focus on resolving them.
President Prabowo stressed that the government does not intend to look for faults or compare its performance with the previous administration. According to him, every government faces challenges particular to its own time.
Furthermore, President Prabowo said all ministers and agency leaders are elements of the nation’s leadership who have been given a mandate to confront and resolve various national problems.
He said the government understands that teachers’ welfare remains low, job opportunities are limited, extreme poverty still exists, and economic inequality persists in society. According to President Prabowo, these problems are precisely the reason the government was elected to resolve them.
Nevertheless, President Prabowo acknowledged that a number of problems facing the government turned out to be far greater than anticipated. He highlighted distortions in the national economy caused by unhealthy trading practices.
For this reason, President Prabowo asserted that the government has a mandate to stop these leakages in order to protect the national interest.
“By the latest count, we have resolved 108 problems in just over a year of our government. This is no small achievement,” he said.
Even so, the President reminded the entire cabinet not to be complacent or arrogant about these achievements.
“We do not want to pat ourselves on the back, we do not want to and must not get big-headed or arrogant. That is not our character — do not be presumptuous. But if we have achieved something, we must acknowledge it,” President Prabowo said.
On this occasion, President Prabowo highlighted the importance of food security as the primary measure of a nation’s success. According to him, the ability to meet the people’s food needs is the fundamental foundation of a civilisation.
He said food security must be supported by water availability, fertile land, affordable fertiliser, and appropriate policies so that the public has access to food and children receive nutritious meals.
President Prabowo also touched on the Free Nutritious Meals programme, interactive digital panels in schools, energy issues, investment, village cooperatives, and housing for the people.
All the matters discussed in the plenary cabinet session will also be presented in a report to the entire Indonesian people on the government’s performance over the past year, to be delivered before 17 August 2026.
