Prabowo Brings Danantara and Kadin to Business Forum in Tokyo
President Prabowo Subianto attended a business forum in Tokyo, Japan, on Monday, 30 March 2026. The former Minister of Defence brought along senior officials from the Danantara Nusantara Future Investment Management Agency and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) to meet with Japanese businesspeople.
The agenda was part of Prabowo’s series of visits to the Land of the Rising Sun. Prabowo’s presence at the business forum titled “Japan-Indonesia Business Forum” took place after visiting the Imperial Palace in Tokyo.
“President continues his state visit to Japan by attending the Japan-Indonesia Business Forum with members of the Red and White Cabinet as well as Indonesian businesspeople,” as stated in the Presidential Secretariat’s press release on Monday, 30 March 2026.
Several Danantara and Kadin officials accompanying Prabowo at the forum included Danantara BPI Head Rosan Perkasa Roeslani and Danantara Indonesia Chief Investment Officer Pandu Sjahrir, as well as Kadin Indonesia General Chairman Anindya Bakrie.
According to the Presidential Secretariat, Indonesian and Japanese businesspeople agreed on several business collaborations at the forum. Ten cooperation agreements between the two countries, valued at USD 22.6 billion, were achieved at the forum.
The Cabinet Secretariat stated that this cooperation is part of strategic steps to strengthen relations between the two countries’ economies. “While opening up broader collaboration opportunities in various priority sectors, including industry, energy, and technology development,” as stated in the Presidential Secretariat’s press release.
The event with President Prabowo was organised jointly by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Keidanren, Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Kadin Indonesia.
Before visiting the business forum, Prabowo first paid a courtesy call to the Imperial Palace of Japan. Prabowo met with Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Japanese Crown Prince Fumihito.
Prabowo’s visit to the head of the Japanese imperial family was part of his tour to the Land of the Rising Sun. According to the Presidential Secretariat’s press release, Prabowo was personally welcomed by Emperor Naruhito upon alighting from his vehicle upon arrival at the Imperial Palace.
Emperor Naruhito then walked with President Prabowo to the Take-no-Ma room or imperial audience hall. The two heads of state then held a photo session together, followed by a one-on-one meeting.
