The UAE, one of the Gulf countries bordering Saudi Arabia, has seven Emirates. According to the Presidential Press Team, all seven Emirs were present at the meeting with Prabowo in the capital of the UAE.
Among these Emirs is Mohammed bin Zayed, or MBZ, the Emir of Abu Dhabi who also serves as President of the UAE. “Alhamdulillah, in this blessed month of Ramadan, I had the opportunity to break fast with the President of the United Arab Emirates, His Excellency Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan,” Prabowo said via his Instagram social media account.
In addition to MBZ, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Emir of Dubai who also serves as Prime Minister of the UAE, was also present among the Emirs. In addition to them, the other leaders of the Emirates, namely the Emir of Sharjah, the Emir of Ajman, the Emir of Umm Al Quwain, the Emir of Ras Al Khaimah, and the Emir of Fujairah, were also present at the joint iftar event.
“This gathering is a moment to strengthen friendship and enhance strategic cooperation between Indonesia and the UAE for the welfare of the people of both countries,” said Prabowo.
After breaking their fast, Prabowo also performed the Maghrib prayer in congregation with the group. In this meeting, the General Chairman of the Gerindra Party was accompanied by a number of cabinet officials, including Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Foreign Minister Sugiono, and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia.
The dialogue then continued in an expanded meeting. As a closing, President Prabowo and President MBZ held a tête-à-tête. This moment also marked the intention of both countries to strengthen diplomatic relations that have been established for 50 years since 1976.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy said that this forum also discussed investment cooperation between the two countries. “The meeting discussed cooperation to increase investment. Bilateral relations are being enhanced. The UAE wants to increase its investment in Indonesia,” said Teddy.
