Prabowo Breaks Fast with Muhammadiyah, NU, and MUI Leaders at the Istana
Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto shared a moment of breaking fast with Rais Aam Pengurus Besar Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Miftachul Akhyar, the General Chairman of Muhammadiyah Prof. Haedar Nashir, and the Chairman of the Indonesian Ule Council (MUI) KH Anwar Iskandar at Istana Merdeka, Jakarta, on Thursday.
In a corner of Istana Merdeka, as posted on the official social media account @prabowo, the President enjoyed takjil and dates at a small round table suitable for four. He was seated with Haedar Nashir to his right, Anwar Iskandar to his left, and Miftachul Akhyar sitting opposite the President.
“The breaking of the fast with Rais Aam PBNU KH Miftachul Akhyar, Muhammadiyah’s General Chairman Prof. Haedar Nashir, and MUI’s General Chairman KH Anwar Iskandar at Istana Merdeka, Jakarta. Happy breaking the fast to all those observing the holy month,” said the caption accompanying two photos posted by the President on his official account in Jakarta on Thursday evening.
The President hosted the gathering with kiais and representatives from Islamic community organisations in the central courtyard of the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday evening. The event was attended by several ministers from the Red and White Cabinet, including Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Muhaimin Iskandar, Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf, and Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar.
The meeting with ulama began at 19.00 WIB.
Separately, MPR Chair Ahmad Muzani told reporters at the Istana, Jakarta, on Wednesday (4/3), that President Prabowo wished to hear the ulama’s views directly regarding Indonesia’s position on escalating tensions in Gulf states in the Middle East, particularly after the unilateral military strikes by the United States and Zionist Israel against Iran last week. “(The meeting with the ulama) is also part of the President’s effort to listen to perspectives, although the President will also share his own views on the matter,” Muzani said.
