Jakarta, VIVA – President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto broke fast with a number of religious leaders and heads of Islamic mass organisations at Istana Merdeka, the Presidential Palace complex, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, 5 March 2026.

Among those in attendance were Rais Aam PBNU Miftachul Achyar, Haedar Nasir, the General Chairman of Muhammadiyah, and Anwar Iskandar, the General Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI).

The moment of breaking fast with Islamic organisational leaders was uploaded by Prabowo on his official Instagram account @prabowo.

“Break-fast with Rais Aam PBNU KH Miftachul Achyar, the General Chairman of Muhammadiyah KH Anwar Iskandar? The correct title is KH Anwar Iskandar at Istana Merdeka, Jakarta,” wrote Prabowo.

From the posted photo, Prabowo appears to be seated between the three at a circular table, as they share an iftar meal.

“Blessed iftar to all those observing the fast,” Prabowo said.

Earlier reports noted that Anwar Iskandar, the General Chairman of MUI; the General Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah; and Rais Aam PBNU Miftachul Achyar had arrived at the Presidential Palace in Central Jakarta on Thursday, 5 March 2026.

They gathered at the Presidential Palace to attend Prabowo’s invitation for a silaturahmi and to break fast together with President Prabowo Subianto.

“Break-fast together,” Anwar told reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta.

Anwar said that all chairmen of Islamic mass organisations, along with preachers and the heads of pesantren—large pesantren with broad networks—would attend Prabowo’s invitation, he added.
