Prabowo Boasts Indonesia Achieves Food Self-Sufficiency in Just One Year

President Prabowo Subianto passionately showcased his administration’s success alongside Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka at the Annual Session of the MPR and the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD in commemoration of Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Friday (14/8/2026).

Prabowo emphasised that his government is focused on working for the people’s interests. He acknowledged that not all promises have been fulfilled, nor have all national problems been resolved. However, he noted that issues considered complicated for decades have begun to be addressed.

“The people’s mandate is a great honour for us. We will work as hard as possible, we will go all out for our people and our nation,” Prabowo stated.

“And because of our policies and hard work, the food self-sufficiency we initially targeted to achieve in four years, we have managed to achieve in one year,” he announced.

He further asserted that Indonesia is now in a state of food security, even as many countries around the world are extremely worried about mass starvation due to food shortages and unpredictable weather. “Alhamdulillah, I can report in this Assembly, regarding food, regarding sustenance for the Indonesian people, we are in a safe condition,” he said. “And we will be able to face challenges, including the El Niño phenomenon which is said to be severe this year, the most powerful El Niño,” Prabowo stressed.
