Prabowo Before Putin: We Respect All Powers

Vladivostok, CNBC Indonesia - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto served as the primary guest of honour at the 9th Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Russia, on Thursday (3/9/2026) local time. In his speech before event participants, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Prabowo emphasised Indonesia’s position on the global stage.

“Indonesia has been very open for decades regarding our policies,” he stated.

According to Prabeway, Indonesia seeks to maintain positive relationships with all countries, including superpowers. Traditionally, he continued, Indonesia does not take sides.

“We are not part of any military alliance; we respect all powers,” said Prabowo.

The General Chairman of the Great Indonesia Movement Party also stated that Indonesia is economically independent and wishes to cooperate with all nations. Indonesia remains very open to negotiating with its partners.

“We offer fair trade,” Prabowo remarked.

Furthermore, Prabowo ensured that Indonesia is very open to all countries. Indonesia will not cooperate with parties whose interests conflict with the interests of other groups.

“We will treat anyone who wishes to come to Indonesia fairly. We provide equal treatment to everyone who comes to Indonesia,” said Prabowo.

The former Minister of Defence also emphasised that Indonesia’s relationship with Russia has been established for a very long time. Even when Indonesia had just declared its independence in 1945, Russia, which was then known as the Soviet Union, cared for Indonesia.

“Everyone knows this history, and we do not hide it,” said Prabowo.
