Prabowo Becomes the First President to Read the KEM PPKF; DPR Legislator: This Is a New Tradition

Jakarta, VIVA – President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto will personally deliver the Macro Economic Framework and the Core Principles of Fiscal Policy (KEM PPKF) for the 2027 RAPBN (Budget Year) at the DPR plenary session on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. Responding to this, Mukhammad Misbakhun, the Chair of Commission XI of the DPR, said the move represents a new tradition, noting that in previous years the KEM PPKF was read by the Finance Minister. ‘So if today it is read directly by the President, it indeed becomes a new tradition,’ Misbakhun told reporters at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. ‘Nevertheless, the KEM-PPKF — which is regularly conducted every 20 May as the initial round, the kick-off of the initial discussions on the APBN [State Budget] —’ he added. Misbakhun stated that there are several macro assumptions to be discussed in this KEM PPKF, including economic growth, the inflation rate, the rupiah exchange rate, and the ICP for oil and gas production. ‘Then we will also discuss the indicative ceiling allocations for ministries and agencies,’ he concluded.
