Prabowo Becomes First President to Deliver Macroeconomic Framework Directly in DPR Plenary Session

Presidential Palace clarifies that President Prabowo Subianto will personally deliver the Macroeconomic Framework and the Core Policy of Fiscal Policy (KEM-PPKF) for the RAPBN Year Anggaran 2027 in the DPR RI plenary session on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. The move is intended to align national views and unite the nation in safeguarding the economy.

The Secretary to the State Secretariat, who is also the Presidential Spokesperson, Prasetyo Hadi, confirmed the President’s attendance at the session, which coincides with National Awakening Day. He said the moment is crucial for the direction of Indonesia’s economic policy.

“God willing, the President will be present. The date falls on National Awakening Day. So the President wants to use the moment to once again unite our views and strength as one nation, particularly in carrying out the task of safeguarding our economy,” Prasetyo Hadi said on Tuesday, 19 May.

The DPR RI Plenary Session of the Fifth Session Year, 2025-2026, is scheduled to begin at 09:00 WIB in the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex. President Prabowo is scheduled to deliver the KEM-PPKF around 10:00 WIB.

Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said that the President’s direct appearance to deliver the KEM-PPKF represents a historic event. Typically, this agenda is represented by the minister concerned; however, by regulation the President may deliver it directly.

“I checked earlier; perhaps this is the first time. It is permissible. This is an introduction to the preparation of the 2027 APBN,” Dasco said.

In addition to the KEM-PPKF delivery, the plenary will discuss two other important items: Baleg DPR RI’s report on the evaluation of changes to the 2026 Prolegnas Priority List and the factions’ opinions on a DPR Commission III-initiated bill regarding amendments to Law Number 2 of 2002 on the Indonesian Police.

Prabowo’s move is seen as a strong signal of the government’s commitment to transparency and cross-institutional coordination to address global economic challenges through stabilising the rupiah within the forthcoming budget posture.

President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to deliver the KEM-PPKF for the RAPBN 2026 in the DPR in conjunction with National Awakening Day to strengthen the economy.
