Prabowo Bans Public from Approaching Mount Anak Krakatau Area
President Prabowo Subianto has prohibited the public, particularly those in Jakarta, Banten, Lampung, and around the Sunda Strait, from approaching the Mount Anak Krakatau area.
The public has also been asked to comply with the designated danger zones and safe limits.
“Follow all directions from the government and officers in the field, and do not approach the Mount Anak Krakatau area and fully comply with the danger zones and safe limits that have been set by the authorities,” said Prabowo, quoted from a post on his Instagram account @presidenrepublikindonesia, Sunday, 6 September 2026.
Prabowo said he had monitored the development of Mount Anak Krakatau’s activity and received reports and the latest information from relevant officials.
He has also ordered all government ranks, BNPB, BMKG, TNI, Polri, regional governments, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Transportation, and related ministries and agencies to continue monitoring the situation.
“As well as ensuring all elements of preparedness are running well, and providing the necessary protection and assistance to the public,” said Prabowo.
On that occasion, Prabowo invited all citizens to offer prayers for protection from Allah SWT, especially amid the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau.
Volcanic ash from the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau is known to have spread to several provinces, one of which is Jakarta.
“Let us pray together, may Allah SWT always protect all Indonesian people, especially our brothers and sisters around Mount Anak Krakatau and the Sunda Strait area, as well as our brothers and sisters in various regions who are currently facing calamities and disasters,” he said.
“May they be granted safety, strength, and fortitude in facing every trial,” Prabowo concluded.
Previously reported, Perum Lembaga Penyelenggara Pelayanan Navigasi Penerbangan Indonesia (LPPNPI) or AirNav Indonesia updated aeronautical information regarding the extension of temporary airspace closures at eight airports affected by volcanic ash from the Mount Anak Krakatau eruption.
EVP of Corporate Secretary AirNav Indonesia Hermana Soegijantoro said that the temporary closure status for flight activities at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta) in Tangerang, Banten, and other airports has been extended with an estimated time until 23.59 WIB.
