President Prabowo Subianto stated that many parties dislike the work of the Satgas Penertiban Kawasan Hutan (PKH) task force.

He made this remark during the handover of Rp10.2 trillion from administrative forestry fine collections by the PKH task force at the Attorney General’s Office on Wednesday (13/5).

“I understand that the PKH task force is not a popular one; many people don’t like you, the bandits and robbers don’t like you,” he said.

Prabowo explained that this dislike arises because the PKH task force is striving to reclaim state funds that have been seized through illegal actions.

“It’s up to you: are you afraid of them, or will you defend the people? It depends on you,” he said.

Prabowo is confident that the PKH task force will work hard to return the seized state finances. According to him, there have now been four handovers of funds from forestry area enforcement to the state treasury.

“We’re not seeking popularity; this isn’t the Prabowo government being populist. This is a matter of survival for 287 million Indonesians; it’s impossible for them to live well and prosper if their wealth is taken every day, every week, every month,” he said.

Previously, the PKH task force handed over Rp10.27 trillion from administrative forestry fine collections to the state.

The total value handed over consists of administrative fines of Rp3.423 trillion and PKH task force proceeds from PBB and non-PBB taxes amounting to Rp6.846 trillion.
