Prabowo: Bahlil Says Fuel is Safe, But That Doesn't Mean We Can Take It Easy, We Must Work
President Prabowo Subianto stated that fuel stocks are still secure amid the US-Israel and Iran conflict that is disrupting global oil distribution. He said that this situation does not allow the government to relax.
“This is only a specific period and (savings) this is also correct, this is also good, we must not become a nation that is too relaxed. Let us correct ourselves. Our nation has been given too much by the Almighty, so we are like ‘whatever happens, it’s fine’, right, not ‘whatever happens, how to handle it’, ‘it’s okay, relax’,” said Prabowo during a briefing at the Government Working Meeting in the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, on Wednesday (8/4/2026).
Prabowo referenced the report from the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, who stated that fuel supplies are still safe. He asked his cabinet members to remain alert.
“Mr Bahlil says it’s safe, so relax. Safe does not mean we relax, we take it easy, no. We work, we stay vigilant,” he said.
Prabowo asked all parties to work efficiently. He urged everyone to unite in facing the threat of crisis due to global turmoil.
“Brothers and sisters, this crisis for me is an opportunity. Crisis, difficulties, challenges, obstacles are opportunities to make us work better, work more efficiently, must not be wasteful, must not have leaks. Now we must gather all our strength,” he said.
