Prabowo: B50 Launching Soon, We Will No Longer Import Diesel!
President Prabowo Subianto is optimistic that Indonesia will soon achieve energy self-sufficiency and no longer depend on foreign imports. Speaking at the peak of the 17th National Farmers and Fishers Week (PENAS) in Gorontalo Regency on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, Prabowo stated that Indonesia will soon launch B50. B50 is a fuel consisting of a 50 percent blend of plant-based biodiesel and 50 percent diesel fuel. “We are heading towards fuel self-sufficiency, energy self-sufficiency, brothers and sisters,” Prabowo said in his address. He explained that the government will launch B50 in July 2026. With this, Prabowo is confident Indonesia will no longer import diesel from abroad. “This July, in just a few days, we will launch B50. B50 diesel will be processed from 50 percent palm oil. Thus, we will no longer import diesel from abroad, brothers and sisters. And we will save a great deal,” he stated. Furthermore, Prabowo believes the target of energy self-sufficiency will be achieved within the next three to four years. “I estimate in three years, a maximum of four years, we will achieve energy self-sufficiency. We do not want to import anything for our fuel, for our energy, brothers and sisters. I think that is what I wanted to convey,” Prabowo concluded.
