Prabowo Attends Inaugural Board of Peace Summit at US Institute of Peace
Jakarta (ANTARA) — President Prabowo Subianto attended the inaugural Board of Peace (BoP) summit held at the Donald J. Trump US Institute of Peace in Washington DC, United States, on Thursday morning local time.
The presidential motorcade made its way to the US Institute of Peace at approximately 08:00 local time. Several major roads surrounding the venue had been cordoned off since 07:00, with public vehicles barred from passing through.
At the inaugural Gaza Board of Peace summit in Washington DC, President Prabowo attended at the invitation of US President Donald J. Trump Jr., who served as both host and initiator of the BoP. Several other member state leaders were also in attendance, including those from Albania, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Pakistan, Paraguay, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and Egypt.
Representatives from Belarus, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, and Israel were also present.
During the meeting, leaders of member states, including President Prabowo, were given time to address the forum. The BoP summit was opened by President Trump.
At the US Institute of Peace, President Prabowo was accompanied by Foreign Minister Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
In a separate occasion, Foreign Minister Sugiono outlined several items on the BoP summit agenda.
"It is planned to begin at 08:40, and several matters will be presented — from the BoP chairman, the executive board — but what is certain is that member states will be given the opportunity to speak," Sugiono told reporters in the US on Wednesday (18 February).
According to the programme document issued by the Board of Peace summit organisers, the event began with a group photo session at 08:40, followed by opening remarks from President Trump as host.
This was followed by presentations from several key BoP figures, including US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff, US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz, Ali Shaath, Nick Mladenov, Tony Blair, Yakir Gabay, Liran Tancman, Marc Rowan, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and Jared Kushner.
The next agenda item saw member state leaders speak during the intervention session. President Prabowo spoke fourth, after King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in first position, followed by Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in second, and Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in third.
In fifth position after President Prabowo was Romania's President Nicusor Dan, followed by Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed Al-Thani, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah, and Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Aljub.
Following the intervention session, proceedings continued with the adoption of a resolution and a vote, before the event was closed by host President Trump.
