Prabowo attends groundbreaking of 13 Phase II downstreaming projects in Cilacap
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto attended the groundbreaking of 13 Phase II downstreaming projects in Cilacap, Central Java, on Wednesday, as part of the acceleration of value-added industry development in various strategic national sectors. The 13 projects are spread across various regions and carried out simultaneously, one of which is the construction of a gasoline refinery facility in Cilacap managed by Pertamina as part of strengthening the national energy sector. In addition, the construction of operational tanks for fuel oil storage facilities is planned in several areas, including Palaran in East Kalimantan, Biak in Papua, and Maumere in East Nusa Tenggara. In the metal industry sector, downstreaming projects include the development of nickel-based steel manufacturing facilities in Morowali, Central Sulawesi, as well as carbon steel slab production facilities in Cilegon, Banten, involving Krakatau Steel. The construction sector is also part of the projects through the development of an ecosystem and Buton asphalt production facilities in Karawang, West Java, to support national infrastructure material needs. Meanwhile, the coal processing project into dimethyl ether (DME) is in Tanjung Enim, South Sumatra. Downstreaming is also carried out in the precious metals sector through copper and gold processing in Gresik, East Java, as well as the plantation sector through palm oil processing into oleofood products and biodiesel in Sei Mangkei, North Sumatra. In addition, processing nutmeg commodities into oleoresin in Central Maluku, as well as the construction of integrated coconut facilities to produce MCT, flour, and activated carbon, are part of the Phase II downstreaming projects.
