Prabowo Attends DPR's First Plenary Session for Macro-Economic Speech

Detikcom observed on Wednesday, 20 May 2026, that Prabowo arrived at the DPR/MPR building at around 09:32 local time. He was wearing a black suit with a blue tie, complemented by a black peci. Upon arrival at the DPR building, Prabowo was greeted by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka and Speaker of the DPR Puan Maharani. Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Saan Mustopa (Nasdem), and Sari Yuliati (Golkar) were also present. It is understood that the DPR was holding a plenary session today with several agendas. One of them is the macroeconomic framework (KEM) and the pokok-pokok kebijakan fiskal (PPKF) for the 2027 RAPBN to be delivered by Prabowo. Other items include the Baleg’s report on the evaluation of changes to the two Prolegnas Priority Bills for 2026, followed by decision-making. The agenda also includes the opinions of factions on revisions to the Act proposed by Commission III regarding amendments to Law No. 2 of 2002 on the Indonesian National Police, followed by a decision to become a DPR-originated Bill. Mensesneg Prasetyo Hadi explained the reason Prabowo intends to deliver the briefing directly, rather than through the Finance Minister. He said the plenary session coincides with National Awakening Day on 20 May: ‘It is coincidental that the date is National Awakening Day. So the President wants to seize the momentum to once again unite our views and strength as a nation,’ he told reporters on Tuesday (19 May). ‘Above all, that unity of views is needed to safeguard our nation’s economy,’ he added.
