Prabowo Attends ASEAN Summit Dinner in Philippines, Sits Next to Prince Mateen
The gala dinner was held by Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. as the host of the 48th ASEAN Summit at the Mactan Expo in Cebu, Philippines, on Friday (8/5) evening. President Prabowo was personally welcomed by President Marcos Jr. along with Mrs Marie Louise Cacho Araneta Marcos.
On this occasion, President Prabowo appeared wearing barong attire with embroidery inspired by Indonesian batik motifs. The blend of Filipino and Indonesian cultural elements in the outfit reflected cultural harmony and friendship between the two countries.
The event began with remarks from President Marcos Jr., who expressed appreciation for the presence of ASEAN leaders. He also emphasised the importance of maintaining unity and collaboration in the region.
During the dinner session, President Prabowo was seen sitting alongside the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam, Hassanal Bolkiah, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, and Prince Abdul Mateen. A warm and friendly atmosphere among the ASEAN leaders was evident throughout the event.
During the dinner, the heads of state and delegations were treated to various traditional Filipino cultural performances. The gala dinner also served as an opportunity for ASEAN leaders to strengthen personal relations and enhance informal communication amidst the official summit agenda.
Accompanying President Prabowo at this dinner event were Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
