JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has urged that the event he attended, involving the handover of Rp 10 trillion in administrative fines from forest areas, should not be regarded as merely ceremonial. According to Prabowo, this handover serves as evidence of the state’s determination in eradicating violations in forest areas. “I think, my fellow citizens, events like this should not be considered just ceremonies or shows, but in my view, my conviction, the Indonesian nation and people are at a stage where our people want to see proof,” said Prabowo during the handover of administrative fines from forest areas at the Attorney General’s Office in Jakarta on Wednesday (13/5/2026). On this occasion, Prabowo also appreciated the work of the Forest Area Regulation Task Force (Satgas PKH). “I must say once again, on behalf of the state and nation, on behalf of all Indonesian people, I convey my thanks to all members of the Satgas PKH,” he stated. Prabowo admitted he was pleased to be invited to the event handing over the fines to the state. “I think this is the umpteenth event. It has happened several times, the fourth time perhaps, with a total handover of approximately 40 trillion. I’m happy to be invited to such events continuously. Every invitation, I see physically 10 trillion,” said Prabowo. Furthermore, Prabowo also received news that there would be a process for handing over the next stage of funds. “I also got a whisper. Next month there will be a handover of 11 trillion, apparently,” said the chairman of the Gerindra Party. The Head of State mentioned that the value of the funds amounted to Rp 39 trillion. “And I also received a report that there is approximately 39 trillion in unclear funds, where the corruptors or criminals might have fled Indonesia or passed away, leaving the money in unclear accounts. Perhaps they had many young wives or mistresses. So the wives or heirs don’t know that he has money in those banks,” said Prabowo. Because the ownership of that money is unclear, Prabowo ordered that it be handed over to the state. “It has been unclaimed for several years, so I said, if it has been unclaimed for several years and we have announced it publicly for a year with no one coming forward, then transfer it to the people. Next month, approximately 49 trillion will be available,” he explained.
