Prabowo at Lunar New Year 2026 Celebration Peak: A Great Nation Fears No Difference
The government held the peak celebration of the 2026 Lunar New Year Festival last night. President Prabowo Subianto stated that this celebration reaffirms that Indonesia is built by all citizens of the nation.
“The 2026 Lunar New Year Festival is a celebration that reaffirms that Indonesia was not built by one ethnic group or one faction alone, but by all citizens of the nation,” Prabowo said through a video recording played at Lapangan Banteng, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (28 February 2026).
According to Prabowo, the event titled ‘Harmoni Imlek Nusantara’ (Lunar New Year Harmony of the Archipelago) emphasises that diversity is the primary foundation that makes Indonesia a strong and dignified nation. Therefore, he stated that differences are not something to be feared, but rather something to be nurtured.
“Indonesia is a great nation. A great nation does not fear difference. A great nation instead nurtures difference as a strength,” he said.
In his address, Prabowo highlighted the uniqueness of this year’s Lunar New Year celebration, noting that it coincides with Ramadan, the holy month of Islam.
According to him, this moment reflects the true face of Indonesia, which is tolerant. “This year’s Lunar New Year celebration has profound meaning. Lunar New Year arrives alongside Ramadan, the holy month for Muslims,” Prabowo said.
“This is Indonesia’s true face. Different but harmonious, diverse but one objective,” he added.
Prabowo emphasised that Lunar New Year is not merely a religious celebration, but rather a momentum for strengthening national unity.
“Lunar New Year is not just a religious celebration. Lunar New Year is a moment of nationhood, brotherhood, and unity,” he said.
On the other hand, Prabowo also appreciated the 2026 Lunar New Year Festival celebrations held in various cities across Indonesia, saying this is evidence that harmony thrives throughout the archipelago.
“This is proof that Indonesian unity is not just a slogan. Indonesian unity is a reality,” he added.
Concluding his address, Prabowo invited all Indonesians to welcome the Year of the Fire Horse with full optimism and courage. He hoped that the new year would bring blessings, health, and peace to all Indonesians.
“Let us welcome this new year with optimism, with courage, with determination to make Indonesia a nation that is just, prosperous, and dignified. Gong Xi Fa Cai; may good fortune, health, and happiness accompany us all,” Prabowo concluded.
