Prabowo at BRICS Summit: Indonesia Ready to Increase Global Food Support
President Prabowo Subianto has stated that Indonesia is prepared to increase its contribution to global food security as national food production capacity strengthens.
According to a statement from the Presidential Secretariat received in Jakarta on Sunday, Prabowo conveyed this during the 2026 BRICS Summit at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, India.
“For many years, Indonesia has been a major importer of grains, rice, and corn. Now, we have become an exporter and will be able to increase support for the entire world,” said Prabowo.
According to the President, this transformation demonstrates how limitations can be converted into capacity through development and the strengthening of national capabilities.
Prabowo believes that similar potential exists within BRICS nations if their respective strengths can be interconnected and optimised collectively.
He noted that various interconnected global challenges should not merely be viewed as obstacles, but can be transformed into opportunities through strengthened cooperation.
“Together, we can turn these interconnected challenges into opportunities for greater investment, stronger industries, and more jobs and better opportunities for our people. Growth that reaches millions of our people will make our nation more resilient,” he remarked.
Prabow evaluated that a nation’s resilience is closely linked to the extent to which economic growth can be felt by the wider community. Therefore, inclusive development and innovation are essential elements in increasing collective capacity.
In the context of BRICS, Prabowo stated that member nations possess complementary resources, production capacities, and economic strengths that can be optimised to create greater added value.
“BRICS has already become a supply chain. Our task is to connect and optimise it so that these existing strengths can become a source of greater value for us all,” he said.
Prabowo subsequently offered joint industrialisation as a concrete step to optimise the resources and capacities of BRICS member nations.
“Therefore, allow me to offer something concrete. Let us undertake joint industrialisation and let us optimise the resources and capacities we possess together,” said Prabowo.
