Prabowo Assigns New Tasks to Airlangga and Team, Here is the Content
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto revealed directives from President Prabowo Subianto during a government working meeting at the State Palace on Wednesday (8/4/2026). The two directives relate to maintaining the debt ratio and financial agreements between central banks.
The meeting was attended by all Ministers and Deputy Ministers of the Red and White Cabinet, echelon I officials, and CEOs of state-owned enterprises.
“The President committed to keeping the debt ratio at 40% level, even though the law allows up to 60%, and similarly the budget deficit at 3%. This will be maintained until the end of the year,” said Airlangga after the meeting.
According to Airlangga, the President also directed efforts to promote financial stability through currency exchange agreements via central banks or Bilateral Currency Swaps.
Airlangga stated that domestic financial stability is also good, with foreign exchange reserves reaching US$151.9 billion by the end of February.
“The President also directed that the Bilateral Currency Swap be continued. And several countries now include China, Japan, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea. In the future, some countries also need to be encouraged,” said Airlangga.
Airlangga further added that the government is reducing Hajj costs by Rp2 million amid rising avtur prices. The cost burden will be absorbed through the state budget, amounting to Rp1.77 trillion for 220 Hajj pilgrims.
Meanwhile, Airlangga conveyed during the meeting that the economic condition is good, with growth in the fourth quarter of 2025 reaching 5.39%. Additionally, domestic fuel prices and world oil prices (WTI) have fallen to US$96.7 per barrel, and Brent reference at US$95.23 per barrel.
“It was also conveyed to the President that our consumption is strong, where consumption represents 54% of GDP, and our food security is relatively strong. Rice production in 2025 is 34.7 million tonnes, and Bulog’s stock is 4.6 million tonnes,” said Airlangga during his briefing.
Furthermore, according to Airlangga, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has agreed to implement B50 by 1 July to increase savings of Rp48 trillion. In addition, tax revenues have increased by 14.3% or reached Rp462.7 trillion.
