President Prabowo Subianto stressed that the regulation of natural resource exports is a strategic government move to ensure Indonesia’s natural wealth benefits all citizens. He stated that much of the profits from Indonesia’s natural resource management have historically flowed overseas and not fully benefited domestic communities.

“For too long, natural resource profits have flowed abroad and not remained in the nation. Therefore, the government has established a one-stop system for natural resource exports,” President Prabowo said during his Pancasila Birth Anniversary speech at the Pancasila Building in Jakarta on Monday, 1 June 2026.

President Prabowo also highlighted the importance of large-scale investment in industrialisation based on downstreaming to add value to natural resources. Additionally, the government is working to strengthen foreign exchange management from exports so that the economic benefits of national natural wealth can be more widely felt by the public.

Furthermore, Prabowo stated that Indonesia’s economic development must remain grounded in Pancasila principles, including an egalitarian and people-oriented economic system. He noted that the nation’s economic direction was clearly outlined by the founders through Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution.

Indonesia’s economy must be structured as a collective effort based on familial principles. Therefore, strengthening cooperatives is a key government agenda to enhance public welfare and reduce poverty.

“Therefore, cooperatives must be strengthened and revived. Cooperatives are a tool to lift our people out of poverty and helplessness. Small and medium enterprises must be bolstered, and villages must become centres of new economic growth,” the President said.

Prabowo emphasised that the ultimate goal of national economic development is to achieve social justice for all Indonesians. Thus, economic growth must go hand in hand with equitable distribution of development benefits so progress is felt across all societal layers.
