Prabowo Asserts Lying to the People Is a Sin
President Prabowo Subianto has asserted that leaders who lie to the people are sinful and betray the nation’s interests. He made the statement during the launch of the Mandatory B50 Biodiesel Programme at the KM 57 rest area in Karawang, West Java, on Thursday, while addressing the government’s achievements in food self-sufficiency. “A government that lies to its people is sinful. A leader who lies to his people is sinful. A leader who is not loyal to the nation’s interests above all else is a traitor,” he said. According to the President, there are still parties who underestimate the importance of food self-sufficiency and accuse the government of not conveying the true situation to the public. Prabowo stressed that the government must not lie to the people, including regarding the achievement of food self-sufficiency, which he claimed has been successfully realised. “Alhamdulillah, we have proven that we are capable of securing and producing food for our people. Alhamdulillah, we have achieved food self-sufficiency. From a four-year target, we achieved it in one year. Many parties underestimated the importance of food self-sufficiency,” he said. The President also noted that even before his inauguration, he had emphasised to his core team and advisors the importance of achieving food and energy self-sufficiency, including reducing dependence on food and fuel imports. Beyond food and energy, Prabowo stated that water availability is a primary factor determining a nation’s survival. He said the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) continues to carry out a water drilling programme in areas experiencing water scarcity, with approximately 30,000 drilling points established this year alone. “The TNI continues to search for water, the TNI continues to drill for water in difficult places. The TNI Commander reported that this year alone, how many water holes have we drilled? 30,000, and we continue to address the problems that arise,” he said.
