Prabowo Asks Planning and Architecture Universities to Assist Regional Heads

Menteri Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi Brian Yuliarto revealed that President Prabowo Subianto has instructed universities to conduct research to assist in urban and regency spatial planning. Brian stated that Prabowo directed planning and architecture universities to help regional heads. “So the President has given instructions and directions on how these universities can also help by conducting studies and research to assist in city planning and spatial arrangement,” Brian said after a limited meeting at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Monday (6/4/2026). Prabowo hopes that universities with planning and architecture faculties will assist regional heads in arranging urban and regency spaces. City and regency areas are considered potential locations for practical sessions and research, thus helping regional heads. “So the President gave instructions on how planning and architecture faculties in every university can assist regional heads so that the spatial arrangement and city planning in every region, city, or regency, become places for student practice and lecturer research, thereby helping regional heads manage their cities through local universities, and with that, it is hoped that universities with impact can be realised,” Brian explained. In addition to urban and regency spatial planning, Prabowo instructed universities to study and research housing issues. According to Brian, this matter will be coordinated with the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait. “The President also gave instructions on how universities can conduct research, studies, and handle housing problems. So, of course, the Minister of Housing, Mr Ara, will coordinate, and we from the research side. Whatever can help and facilitate overcoming housing problems,” he added.
