Prabowo Asks Japanese Businesspeople to Report Directly If They Have Complaints in Indonesia
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has asked Japanese businesspeople to directly report various obstacles encountered while investing in Indonesia to him.
He conveyed this at the Indonesia-Japan Business Forum in Tokyo, Japan, on Monday (30/3/2026). This reflects the government’s strong commitment to creating an open, responsive investment climate that upholds legal certainty for investors, particularly from Japan.
“If you have problems, you can complain directly to me,” Prabowo said in an official statement on Monday (30/3/2026).
“You can complain directly to me, through your ambassador, through your representatives, through MITI or JETRO or whatever, Keidanren. I am willing to receive complaints,” Prabowo continued.
He even described the role of a modern president as akin to a CEO of the nation who must respond to issues quickly and accurately.
“A modern president is essentially the CEO of this country. He must be able to identify problems very quickly and resolve them very quickly,” Prabowo stated.
This task force is designed to handle various issues, such as administrative delays to practices that harm investors.
“Any company in Indonesia, whether foreign or domestic, that feels it faces delays, administrative barriers, and so on, or experiences exploitation or unfair treatment, can directly contact this task force for removing obstacles,” he explained.
Prabowo emphasised that the Indonesian government is committed to deregulation and simplifying various regulations deemed to hinder investment.
These steps are taken alongside efforts to accelerate national economic growth amid increasingly tight global competition.
“We are striving to deregulate, to eliminate regulations that are sometimes irrational. This is not easy, but we are determined to simplify processes,” Prabowo said.
“We cannot buy time. We cannot negotiate with time. We cannot bargain with time. We can only use time efficiently,” he added.
Prabowo also invited Japanese business actors to strengthen strategic partnerships with Indonesia by combining Japan’s technological strengths and experience with Indonesia’s resources and market potential.
“I believe we must work together. We have worked together,” Prabowo said.
“Enhancing the Indonesia-Japan economic partnership agreement will open new opportunities. This is the right time to deepen our cooperation. We are ready and want to move forward,” Prabowo asserted.
