Prabowo Asks Higher Education Minister to Prepare Human Resources for Downstreaming, Mentions National Car

President Prabowo Subianto has asked the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Brian Yuliarto, to prepare the availability of human resources (HR) that match the needs of the downstreaming industry. The request was conveyed by Brian after meeting Prabowo at the State Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (25/6/2026).

“We were asked to ensure that our human resources, our university graduates, can truly meet the HR needs for the development of the downstreaming industry, which is not insignificant. Starting from minerals, then there is aquaculture, aqua farming, that is also a lot. Then downstreaming,” he said.

Brian admitted he was asked to ensure that the required HR matches the qualifications aligned with the downstreaming industry being promoted. The government must not allow the downstreaming industries it is developing to experience a shortage of human resources.

“For example, we need many electrical experts, but it turns out the graduates do not match. So we were asked to calculate that, to ensure this can meet the existing downstreaming industry. That is all. Thank you very much,” said Brian.
