Prabowo Asked to Provide LPDP Scholarships for Labour Activists

JAKARTA - The President of the All-Indonesian Confederation of Workers’ Unions (KSPSI), Andi Gani Nena Wea, has proposed that the government provide scholarships from the Education Fund Management Institution (LPDP) for labour activists. The proposal was conveyed by Andi Gani to President Prabowo Subianto during the May Day commemoration at the National Monument in Jakarta on Friday (1/5/2026). “The first thing, Sir, we request educational scholarships for labour activists, Sir, the LPDP is so substantial,” said Andi Gani on Friday, quoted from Tribunnews.com. Andi Gani claimed that his proposal received a positive response from Prabowo. “The President’s response was very good. I was asked to meet soon to report on the concept. Of course, it will still follow the applicable selection mechanisms,” said Andi Gani, quoted from Antara. In addition, he also requested the President to build Labour Hospitals (RS Buruh) in industrial areas. Furthermore, he reminded the President of his promise to inaugurate the Marsinah Museum in Nganjuk, East Java. “We remind you, Sir, you have a promise to inaugurate the Marsinah Museum, a symbol of the workers’ struggle in Nganjuk, East Java. Hopefully, you can make time during this May Day series to inaugurate the Marsinah Museum, a symbol of our collective struggle,” he said.
