Prabowo: Article 33 UUD 1945 Is Indonesia's Economic Blueprint
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – President Prabowo Subianto emphasised that Indonesia’s economic blueprint is enshrined in Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia (UUD NKRI 1945). He stressed this during the 19th Plenary Meeting of the House of Representatives in the Plenary Chamber of the MPR/DPR/DPD at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 20 May 2026.
‘The economy is organised as a joint endeavour based on the principle of family-based solidarity. There are no other principles—neoliberal capitalism, bases on conglomerates, or the philosophy that the richest should become richer while the poor become poorer—these are not the philosophy of Pancasila,’ said Prabowo.
The head of state then read the wording of paragraphs two to five of Article 33 UUD 1945:
Paragraph 2: The branches of production that are important for the state and that control the vital needs of the people shall be controlled by the state.
Paragraph 3: The land and water and natural resources contained therein shall be controlled by the state and utilised for the greatest possible prosperity of the people.
Paragraph 4: The economy shall be organised on the basis of economic democracy with the principles of togetherness, efficiency with justice, sustainability, environmental awareness, self-reliance, and by maintaining the balance between progress and the unity of the national economy.
Paragraph 5: Further provisions regarding the implementation of this article shall be regulated by law.
Furthermore, Prabowo said that the Indonesian language used by the founders of the nation is already very clear. ‘There is no need to seek various interpretations. This is our economic blueprint. If we deviate from this blueprint, do not blame anyone but ourselves who are unwilling to accept the entrusted mandate from the founders of the nation,’ said Prabowo.
