Prabowo Arrives in Tokyo, Begins First Official Visit to Japan
Prabowo Subianto arrived at Haneda Airport in Tokyo, Japan, to undertake his first official visit as President of the Republic of Indonesia. The Indonesian Presidential Aircraft-1, carrying Prabowo and his entourage, landed on Sunday (29/3) at 19:10 local time.
At the foot of the aircraft stairs, Prabowo was welcomed by Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs Iwao Horii, Head of State Protocol Tadayuki Miyashita, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Japan Nurmala Kartini Sjahrir, and Indonesia’s Defence Attaché in Tokyo Lieutenant Commander TNI Hidayaturrahman.
From the airport, Prabowo proceeded directly to his accommodation. During his visit to Japan, President Prabowo is scheduled to make a state call on Emperor Naruhito of Japan. Additionally, the Head of State is set to meet with Japan’s Prime Minister, Sanae Takaichi.
Indonesia and Japan have maintained comprehensive cooperation for 68 years in various strategic fields, from economy and politics to socio-culture. In recent years, relations between the two countries have continued to show a positive trend.
This visit reflects the close friendship long established between Indonesia and Japan, built on the basis of mutual trust and respect. Prabowo’s visit is also expected to open up new mutually beneficial collaboration opportunities and further solidify the partnership between Indonesia and Japan.
Prior to this, President Prabowo departed from TNI AU Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta at 10:35 WIB. Accompanying the Head of State on the flight to Tokyo were Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
President Prabowo’s visit to Japan will discuss cooperation in investment, energy, technology, and education to strengthen strategic relations between Indonesia and Tokyo.
