President Prabowo Subianto is in Washington D.C., United States, to attend the first summit of the Board of Peace. Prabowo and the presidential entourage landed at Andrews Air Force Base on Tuesday, 17 February 2026 at 11.55 local time, or 23.55 Western Indonesian Time.

Upon the landing of the Garuda Indonesia-1 aircraft carrying Prabowo, the President was welcomed by a number of officials, including Indonesian Ambassador to the United States Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo, Indonesian Defence Attaché in Washington Air Vice-Marshal E. Wisoko Aribowo, and Maintenance Group Commander Colonel Gary Charland.

Following the welcome on the tarmac, Prabowo proceeded directly to his hotel in Washington D.C. On this visit, Prabowo is accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia.

Teddy stated that President Prabowo is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump during this trip. "This visit is part of President Prabowo's proactive direct diplomacy to strengthen economic chains and domestic industrial productivity," Teddy said in a written statement in the early hours of Wednesday, 18 February 2026.

Prabowo is scheduled to attend the Board of Peace summit, an organisation conceived by US President Donald Trump as a shadow body to the United Nations. When the Board of Peace was established on 22 January 2026 in Davos, Switzerland, Prabowo signed the organisation's charter.

Now, less than a month after its formation, heads of state who are members of the Board of Peace will convene at its first summit at the Institute of Peace in Washington on Thursday, 19 February 2026. The gathering is said to be aimed at advancing the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire and raising funds for the reconstruction of war-affected Palestinian territories.

In addition to the Board of Peace summit, Prabowo will also sign a trade agreement with President Donald Trump during their bilateral meeting. Prabowo and Trump are set to sign the final document of the reciprocal trade negotiations, known as the Agreements on Reciprocal Trade (ART).

A number of substantive points from the negotiation document have been agreed upon and discussed during the legal drafting harmonisation process. Under the framework of this agreement, Indonesia has committed to eliminating import tariffs on the majority of products originating from the United States.

Meanwhile, the US will reduce reciprocal tariffs on Indonesian products from 32 per cent to 19 per cent. The United States has also committed to granting tariff exemptions for several of Indonesia's leading export commodities, including crude palm oil (CPO), coffee, and cocoa. The tariff exemptions apply to Indonesian export products that cannot be produced domestically by the US.
