Prabowo Arrives in the Philippines, Welcomed by Maung Garuda
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived in the Philippines on Thursday (7/5/2026) afternoon to attend the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu.
Based on Kompas TV footage, Prabowo was wearing a cream safari shirt, black peci cap, and sunglasses upon arrival in the Philippines.
Prabowo was accompanied by several officials, including Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia.
A Maung MV3 Garuda Limousine vehicle with the plate INDONESIA 1, typically used by Prabowo in Indonesia, arrived to pick him up.
Prabowo then boarded the Maung vehicle produced by PT Pindad and left the airport area.
It is known that the 48th ASEAN Summit, namely the Brunei Darussalam–Indonesia–Malaysia–Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Summit, serves as a strategic forum to strengthen connectivity and economic cooperation in the ASEAN subregion.
Several issues to be discussed include global developments impacting the region, including efforts to maintain energy resilience and strengthen coordination in responding to geopolitical dynamics.
The meeting of ASEAN leaders is also expected to strengthen regional solidarity in maintaining stability, economic growth, and strategic cooperation across various sectors.
