Prabowo arrives in the Philippines, greeted with honour ceremony
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto landed in Cebu, Philippines, on Thursday to attend the 48th ASEAN Summit. The Government Communication Agency stated that upon arrival at Benito Ebuen Airbase, the President was welcomed with an honour guard ceremony and typical Filipino cultural attractions. Prabowo, wearing a brown safari uniform and black peci, was immediately greeted by Philippine officials, namely Gen. (Ret.) Eduardo Oban, National Security Adviser of the Philippines, shortly after descending the aircraft steps. Prabowo briefly saluted the entire Honour Guard contingent before boarding the Maung Putih vehicle, an Indonesian-made vehicle. This vehicle will be used during his working visit to the Philippines, including on Friday (8/5) to head to the 48th ASEAN Summit venue in Mactan Newtown, Lapu-Lapu, Cebu, Philippines. In that agenda, Prabowo is scheduled to participate in a series of 48th ASEAN Summit activities, including the Brunei Darussalam–Indonesia–Malaysia–Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) meeting, which focuses on strengthening regional connectivity and economic cooperation. Prabowo will also discuss strengthening ASEAN collaboration in facing global dynamics, from energy resilience to regional geopolitical issues.
