Prabowo Arrives in Paris to Perform Eid al-Adha Prayer at Indonesian Embassy

Upon arrival at the airport, President Prabowo was greeted by France’s Minister of Labour and Solidarity, Jean-Pierre Farandou, along with French military honours. Hundreds of Indonesian citizens residing in Paris also enthusiastically welcomed the President at his hotel.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated via social media that the visit realises a previously delayed agenda. “This marks the commencement of President Prabowo’s state visit to France, initially scheduled for last year but subject to multiple reschedulings,” he wrote on Tuesday (26/5).

Teddy emphasised the extensive strategic cooperation between Indonesia and France, adding that the visit is expected to bolster Indonesia’s position in Europe through close partnership with France.

Before commencing official state visits, President Prabowo is scheduled to perform Eid al-Adha prayers. He will join the Indonesian community in a gathering at the official residence of the Indonesian Embassy in Paris.

Deputy State Secretary Juri Ardiantoro previously confirmed the President departed from Jakarta on Monday night, with his stay in France extending until Wednesday, adjusting for local Eid al-Adha celebrations.

The visit is considered a crucial step in Indonesia’s foreign diplomacy, given the vital roles both nations play in regional geopolitical and economic stability.
