President Prabowo Subianto has commenced a state visit to France. The presidential aircraft arrived at Orly Airport in Paris on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, at approximately 09:50 local time. ‘This arrival marks the start of President Prabowo’s state visit to France, which was scheduled last year and has undergone several reschedulings,’ wrote Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya in an official statement. At the aircraft steps, the Head of State was greeted at the airport by France’s Minister of Labour and Solidarity, Jean-Pierre Farandou, and a guard of honour. Additionally, hundreds of Indonesian citizens eagerly awaited his arrival at the hotel since morning. The state visit is expected to further strengthen the strategic relationship between Indonesia and France. Teddy stated that the two countries currently have several strategic collaborations across various sectors. ‘Indonesia currently has numerous super strategic collaborations with France, and this state visit aims to further bolster Indonesia’s position in Europe, particularly in France,’ he said. Furthermore, according to Teddy, the bilateral relationship between Indonesia and France is seen as mutually complementary in global affairs. ‘Indonesia serves as a key gateway for Europe-Asia relations, while France is a crucial gateway for Asia – particularly Southeast Asia – to Europe,’ he wrote. In his written statement, Cabinet Secretary Teddy also outlined President Prabowo’s schedule before the official state visit events. ‘President Prabowo is scheduled to perform Eid al-Adha prayers and hold a gathering with Indonesian citizens at the Indonesian Embassy’s residence in Paris,’ he added.
