Prabowo Arrives in NTT, Immediately Holds Coordination Meeting with BNPB
President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Nagekeo Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province, on Wednesday (28/8/2026) as part of a working visit to directly inspect the condition of communities affected by the earthquake.
Arriving at around 13.00 WITA, Prabowo immediately held a coordination meeting at the Disaster Management Post in NTT.
On that occasion, the president was accompanied by Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Head of BNPB Suharyanto, National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Deputy Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces Tandyo Budi Revita, and other relevant officials.
Aftershocks are known to be continuing in NTT, with the latest count reaching 7,492 events, according to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency. The tremors felt by residents have reached 143 events. So far, the total death toll from the earthquake in NTT has reached 103 people.
Previously, Prasetyo explained that this visit was intended to see and feel first-hand the condition of the community, as well as to ensure that disaster management and the fulfilment of community needs have been running well.
“This visit will also be part of efforts to ensure that coordination between the central government, regional governments, the TNI, the National Police, and all relevant elements is running effectively in handling the impact of the earthquake on Flores Island, NTT,” explained Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, citing a statement on Wednesday (26/8/2026).
Prasetyo explained that from the outset, the president had ordered that emergency earthquake response and the distribution of aid be carried out quickly, in a targeted manner, and evenly across all disaster-affected areas.
