Prabowo Arrives in Japan for His First Official Visit as President
President Prabowo Subianto arrived at Haneda Airport in Tokyo, Japan, at 19.10 local time on Sunday (29/3/2026) for his first official visit as President of the Republic of Indonesia.
According to a press release from the Presidential Secretariat, Prabowo was greeted by Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Iwao Horii, and Head of State Protocol, Tadayuki Miyashita.
From the airport, the President proceeded directly to his accommodation.
The Head of State is also scheduled to hold a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
Earlier, President Prabowo departed from Halim Perdanakusuma TNI AU Base in Jakarta at 10.35 WIB.
Accompanying the Head of State on the flight to Tokyo were Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi explained that President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to Japan is to fulfil an invitation from Emperor Naruhito.
The Head of State will also hold a meeting with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
According to him, the series of meetings aims to strengthen friendly relations and strategic cooperation between Indonesia and Japan.
