President Prabowo Subianto conducted a working visit to Jembrana, Bali. Prabowo is set to officiate the groundbreaking of the first phase of the 100 GWp Solar Power Plant (PLTS) programme today.

The ceremony was held at the Java–Bali Sea Crossing Operation Monument in Gilimanuk, Jembrana Regency, Bali, on Tuesday (25/8/2026). Prabowo arrived at 15:28 WITA at the event location.

The event was attended by several ministers of the Red and White Cabinet, including Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry Rosan Roeslani, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

Previously, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi explained that the programme aims to strengthen national energy independence and resilience.

“This programme is part of the National Priority Work Programme for the Energy and Water Independence Cluster, which is directed at strengthening national energy independence and resilience as well as reducing dependence on fossil energy,” Prasetyo told reporters on Tuesday (25/8).

Prasetyo said Prabowo has instructed that the construction of 100 GWp of solar power be accelerated and completed by 2029. Electricity cost efficiency is estimated to reach Rp73.9 trillion per year.

In addition, Prasetyo said the government is targeting the construction of 30 GWp of solar power plants alongside the retirement of 13 GW of diesel power plants. Indonesia has a solar energy potential of approximately 3,294 GWp, while installed capacity as of April 2026 stood at only around 1.5 GWp.

The programme, he explained, will be built in stages: Phase I at 17 GWp, Phase II at 18 GWp, and Phase III at 30 GWp.
