Prabowo Arrives in Amman, to Strengthen Education and Defence Cooperation with the King of Jordan - Press Bureau, Presidential Secretariat Jakarta, VIVA – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived at Marka Military Airport, Amman, in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on Tuesday, 24 February 2026, at approximately 8:00 pm local time. The President’s visit is a working visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. Upon entering Jordanian airspace, the Presidential Aircraft of the Republic of Indonesia was escorted by honour guard fighter jets from the Royal Jordanian Air Force. This air escort symbolises the high respect that the Jordanian government has for President Prabowo and the Indonesian nation. Upon arrival at Marka Military Airport, President Prabowo was immediately warmly welcomed by the Crown Prince of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II. This reception reflects the close friendship between Indonesia and Jordan, which has been strong for many years. In addition to the Crown Prince, President Prabowo was also welcomed by a number of high-ranking officials from both countries. From the Indonesian side, Indonesian Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Ade Padmo Sarwono, and Indonesian Defence Attaché to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Colonel Dafris D. Syahruddin, were present. Meanwhile, officials from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan also welcomed President Prabowo with great honour. The welcoming ceremony was also marked by the presence of a guard of honour, which stood in formation, adding to the solemn atmosphere of the President’s arrival in Amman. From the airport, President Prabowo went directly to the hotel where he will be staying in Amman. The following day, on Wednesday, 25 February 2026, President Prabowo is scheduled to meet with the King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein. This working visit by President Prabowo to Jordan is expected to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries, particularly in the fields of education, defence, agriculture, and issues related to the Middle East region. Moreover, this year, 2026, marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Accompanying President Prabowo on the flight to Amman were Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
